Easter Caddis action

Hit the creek today early looking for the caddis once again and sure enough was able to find them and trout  looking to eat them Early season caddis equates to hungry fish and today a few big boys feel prey to my offering. First trip to Reading this year and conditions were low and clear, looked more like trico conditions then caddis. sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and take advantage of the situation at hand and sure enough the trout were easy to locate and it was not long before trout were in the net. Interesting mayfly( think in the quill family but could not identify had two antenea ) coming off too with midges.
Good day fishing have a Happy Easter and may i will see you on the run...

April 3 2012 caddis are out in full force

Fished today for a little in the afternoon and ran into my first tan caddis hatch of the year. Even though it was super early the first hatch of the year always makes trout go crazy. today was one of those days. Nothing like wild abandon risers to fluttering caddis to finish out a day off. I actually headed out super early this morning but cold early spring night had the fish sluggish. After about an hour of fishing wound up calling it a day due to cold hands and no fish.

Today i really needed to stick to my agenda of getting my car inspected and some new tires. After a few hours of waiting for my and a weeks pay to get my car back i decided the shop and see what was going on.
After hearing that there was a pretty decent hatch yesterday and finding out that we will be closed on Easter Sunday, decided to hit the stream. I didn't take long to see that the warm sun had stirred up the tan caddis and midges. The caddis was the fly to use, The first caddis hatch that i had chance to take advantage of this season. Fish were very cooperative hitting CDC and emerging caddis pretty regularly even bring some bigger fish to the surface. After about an hour one of the store newbies stopped down to take a stab at some early season surface action.
The fish hit steady till almost till dark when the caddis slowed down but still seamed to bring some fish to the top. A couple of decent fish today and first real hatch explosion. Good day on the creek and hopefully the first of many good days on the run..

Have a great day! and a Happy Easter..
