End of a great year of fishing, good bye 2013 hello 2014

This was a great year for fishing although I didn't fish as much as I wanted too I did get a chance to go to some great place and fish with some good people. The end of the year has brought to realize that there is so much good fishing to be had. This year I was in Arkansas twice and Alaska. I also fished all of my favorite places. Big Springs in Newville and Valley creek in Valley Forge. The most fun I had was fishing the Russian RIver for Sockeye and Silver. That was such a good few days. I was the onl one fishing  a two handed rod and had most people just watching in amazement on how productive swinging  flies to Sockeyes could be. My fall trip back to the White River was also a blast fishing at night with GI on the fly. Got a true shot at a monster brown but could not connect. Looking back I have begun to realize that it not always the fish that makes these trips fun. Thanks for all of our guest who took our adventures with us, looking forward to more exciting fishing  in 2014. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and maybe this year I will see you on the run!!

Alaska

Fished in Kenai Peninsula and had a great time. Hit the Upper Kenai for rainbows dollies and silver. the Russian River for sockeye and silvers and the Kasiloff for Silver and steelhead. Hard to explain if you have never been to Alaska but it is still a tremendous fishery. The amount of fish able water and the amount of fish is as big as the state is large. Even fishing just a small portion of the state will leave you breathless. Eagles and Bears share your desire to catch Salmon here and the ever presence of these two species is alluring. The thrill to fish amongst nature's masters is mesmerizing. Had a great time in Alaska. I had 5 people from the shop with me and met some fun people along the way. I get to go back in 2015 and cant wait, maybe I will see you on the run!!

Trikes

Hit the little lehigh and had a blast. The tricos were making fish be slightly aggressive and even a little reckless. Had close to double digit day with 3 native brownies a few big bows hitting the net. A combination of methods work out well with dropper flies taking most fish. Even had a few fish with emergers. Great day and can't wait to go back. Have fun and maybe I will see you on the run!!

Shark on the fly is a great way to spend a hot summer day....

Fished with Capt Joe Hughes this past mondayand had a great amount of fun chasing Dusky Sharks. After a short boat ride off of Sea Isle NJ we meet up with a few Dusky Sharks and they kept us in our feet all day. We went 4 for 5 with a 75 pounder being the largest fish landed. The fishing was fun and the sharks were amazing. Coming right to the chum bag and nibbling on bits of bunker.  We geared up a few 10 and 12 wts and the battles were on. Great day and a wonderful store trip, with Barry catching and landed a decent Dusky. What a great day on the run. Thanks to Barry and the shop and also to Capt Joe Hughes for putting us on the fish. Till next till get out there and fish and maybe I will see you on the run...

High water and trikes

Fished the little Lehigh today in the rain again and had a few fish hit streamers and a few fish hit trikes. The unusual amount of rain we have been greeting has the creeks up on there banks. The tricos still managed to come off today. Not a tremendous hatch but the spinner fall did have fish eating and should pick up as the water levels drop. Great to be on the run even if the fishing is not so good.

Boy Sout and there Perseverance Badge.

Had the opportunity to help out the Boys Scouts this past week earn a new badge and introduce fly fishing to them for the first time. We had a great turn out and a enjoyable day of learning to fish and what it takes to be a good fisherman. The Scouts ranged from 5-12 and spent the whole week learning different disciplines, we helped out with the perseverance and patience badges. What a fun way to start the summer with the next generation of fisherman. Look at the smiles on these kids and it says it all. See you on the run ...

Little Lehigh last trip of the spring!!

Hit the Little Lehigh for my last spring time fishing adventure. after this the summer heat will make fishin n the Little Lehigh a AM advent. Had a good day on the run meeting a few new friends and catch a few fish. The hatches were absent and the fishi were not really interested in my offering, and are becoming more and more picky as the summer gets closer. Had a nice nativ brownie hit a sulphur nymph and a few rainbows hit streamers, but overall I spent my time chatting with people on the stream. The summer is getting closer and the fishing is starting to slow down but the Little Lehigh was still a fun place to fish. Can not waitfor the trikes to start, they should help bring the fishing back a little till the fall. Have a great summer soon smallmouth bass should start to pick up and help pass the summer duldrums pass by. Till next time get out there go fishing and may I will see you on the run
